Share Your Gardening Tips:

We want to hear from you! Share your best gardening tips and tricks to help fellow gardeners create beautiful spring gardens. While we’re particularly interested in tips about seed starting, soil preparation, and container gardening, feel free to share any tips related to spring gardening or spring gardening prep.

Seed Starting:

  1. Did you know? Most vegetable seeds remain viable for up to three years when stored in a cool, dry place.
  2. Surprising Fact: Certain seeds, like parsley, can take up to three weeks to germinate, so patience is key!
  3. Interesting Insight: Soaking seeds before planting can jumpstart their germination. This method hydrates the seeds and helps them “wake up” and start growing.
  4. Gardening Tip: Start your seeds in a well-lit area to ensure they get enough light to grow strong and healthy. If you’re starting your garden from seeds, browse our herb seeds, flower seeds, vegetable seeds, seed starter kit, potting soil, compost and watering can to get everything you need.

Soil Preparation:

  1. Did you know? Soil is alive! A single teaspoon of healthy soil can contain more microorganisms than there are people on Earth. Read guide to understanding the importance of microbes.
  2. Fascinating Fact: Earthworms are great for your soil; they help aerate it and break down organic material into nutrients.
  3. Soil Fact: Different plants prefer different soil pH levels. For example, blueberries thrive in acidic soil.
  4. Gardening Tip: Before planting, make sure to mix compost or fertiliser into your soil to provide essential nutrients for your plants. Check out our range of compost and fertiliser to get started.

Container Gardening:

  1. Did you know? Container gardening allows you to grow plants in limited space, making it perfect for urban settings. Click here for a full guide to container gardening.
  2. Fun Fact: Containers can be moved around to catch the best sunlight or to create a new look in your garden.
  3. Interesting Insight: Overwatering is one of the most common mistakes in container gardening. Ensure your pots have drainage holes to prevent this.
  4. Gardening Tip: Choose the right size pot for your plant to ensure it has enough room to grow. Explore our wide variety of pots, as well as our potting soil and hand tools to find the perfect match for your container garden.
