Terms Used

New Wood - stem or branch of the current year's growth
Old Wood - stem or branch of a previous year's growth
Eye - lateral or auxillary bud to be found in the axil of a leaf
Vegetative Bud - bud from which a stem will develop
Flower Bud - bud from which a flower will develop
Leaders - shoots by which the main stems of roses extend themselves
Laterals - stems that grow from a leader
Snag - dead stump resulting from a pruning cut being made too far above a bud or too far from the junction of one limb with another
